Simon Cowell has opened up about how bad his horror e-bike crash really was two years ago and how he now has long-term nerve damage.
The music mogul and Britain's Got Talent head judge crashed his bike in Malibu, California, breaking his back – and has confessed it was "much worse" than what people thought at the time.
Simon, 62, also admitted that he doesn't really talk about it and "kept a lot back" from the public.
He also recalled a time when he was at a funfair with his son Eric, eight, and though he thought he was healed when he tried to kick a football it was "agony".
Speaking to OK! magazine, Simon said: "It's been a long haul but I'm almost healed and I'm being very careful about what I do.
"But at least now I can actually play football with Eric. If there was one good thing about lockdown, it was that it gave me the time to heal because I wasn't working on a TV show.
"I was able to walk a lot and strengthen my legs. I know I was lucky to survive my back surgery. I have a lot of people to thank for my recovery."
Simon, who is in a long-term relationship with Lauren Silverman, also confessed that his little boy has banned him from using e-bikes.
After the forthright youngster spotted his dad on one of the electrically powered bikes Eric made him walk back to their hotel.
Simon told Mail Online: "Eric saw me and went crazy! He was so mad, he made me walk it.
"It's like role reversal going on now, I'm now the child and he's the parent, it's hysterical.
"The good thing was I wasn't nervous when I got on it, I really enjoyed it.
"I always say that if you're going to ride a bike then you're going to fall off it at some point. It does come with the territory."
Britain’s Got Talent returned to our screens on April 16 and is on ITV every Saturday at 8pm.
