'Spider-Man: No Way Home': Tom Holland Is a Huge Fan of BTS

Spider-Man: No Way Home premiered on Dec. 17. While promoting the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland revealed he is a fan of the band BTS. The actor also shared that he appreciates the hype of Spider-Man: No Way Home being compared to the popularity that surrounds Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

Tom Holland thinks ‘BTS are a big deal’

On Dec. 17, Twitter Movies showed tweets about Spider-Man: No Way Home to Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon. When the movie was compared to BTS, the actors praised the band.

“Oh, that’s a big comparison,” Zendaya said. “That’s a big deal.”

“That’s a big compliment, that’s a big compliment,” Batalon added.

Holland agreed, saying, “BTS are a big deal.”

The Spider-Man: No Way Home star went on to share his appreciation for the Korean septet.

“I really like the like edits of BTS,” Holland said. “It’s always really, they’re always done really well. Very entertaining.”

BTS are part of the MCU

On Nov. 5, the MCU film Eternals premiered. The movie features the BTS song “Friends” on its official soundtrack.

“Friends” was originally released on BTS’ 2020 album Map of the Soul: 7. A sub-unit track, the song is performed by Jimin and V and details their close friendship. Jimin co-wrote and co-produced the song.

BTS are also mentioned in Eternals, making the band official characters in the MCU.

In Eternals, Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) works on a film set. The Eternals show up pretending to be his “friends from college” and insist he must leave with them. Kingo protests and complains that the members of BTS are rumored to be on the film’s set the next day.

BTS were almost part of the MCU way earlier

While Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS are now canon in the MCU thanks to Eternals, the band was almost included in the popular franchise in a completely different way.

In an interview with Collider, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actor Danny Ramirez revealed that a joke about BTS was almost part of the finale of the Disney+ series, saying:

“There’s not much that didn’t make the cut, but there’s a really funny moment in that last episode… I could see why they had to cut it based on, I think maybe licensing, who’s to say. But it’s this little ad-lib about how ‘I wish we were all more like the boy band BTS.’ Because I was like, I thought we could be more like RM. And so it was a fun little thing and there was a little dance that went with it. So yeah, that was a little bit of something where that would have been cool. But [the scene] was more about the dynamic between us and it still got to be a moment between me and Sam, which was the most important.”

Given that BTS have been mentioned but have yet to appear in an MCU film, perhaps the band members will one day share the screen in a Marvel film with Holland.
