Sunday Brunch host says Love Island approached daughter as he slams ‘cruel’ show

Simon Rimmer has revealed Love Island producers approached his daughter to take part in the sexy ITV2 show – and he wasn’t too happy.

The TV chef is a proud dad to two children, a daughter Flo, 25, and a 20-year-old son Hamish – who he shares with his wife of nearly thirty years, Ali.

And while Simon has most certainly made his name in the showbiz & TV world, it appears his daughter could be following in his footsteps too.

As according to the man himself, Flo caught the eye of Love Island producers when she and her famous dad appeared on their cooking series: Flo and Simon Taste the World.

But it seems Simon would not be keen on his daughter joining the show, and following in the footsteps of the likes of Gemma Owen, Jack Keating and Antigoni Buxton – all of which have famous parents.

In a new interview he explained the ITV2 team “picked her up” from Instagram – but she ultimately turned it down.

“She's very much not a Love Island kind of person. But I thought it was a weird approach really. She is so not a Love Island person,” he said,

Simon went on to say “It wouldn’t be my dream job for her” but mused how if she decided to head off for a summer of love “she would do it for the right reasons.”

Still, it appears Simon isn’t a fan of the show as he slammed it as being “cruel” and antifeminist.

He continued to the MailOnline: “I find it a hard watch. I find it cruel. I also think it is a massive step back for feminism and women.”

Simon would also be against his 20-year-old son Hamish joining the show.

He said: "It feels a bit weird that we're still having girls being treated like objects and I don't like that objectification.

"As a father of a daughter, I don't think I would want… I don't want my son to behave in a way like that towards women and I don't want my daughter to be treated that way by men."

The brand new series of Love Island kicks off on Monday (June 5) at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

But fans have been warned to expect the unexpected as it's going to look quite different to the previous series, according to executive producer Mike Spencer.

Speaking ahead of the launch of series 10, it seems they've saved some of their best plans for the big celebration as Mike promised to "freshen up the format".

He told Daily Star and other press: "We do stay true to our word we try to freshen up the format every series.

“This series we've got a really great show – we're kind of turning the show on its head a little bit so you can expect the unexpected and things won't be where you originally think they will be.
