Toddlers and Tiaras’ Kailia Posey, 16, took own life, says heartbroken family

Toddlers and Tiaras star Kailia Posey, 16, died by suicide, her family has said.

The child reality star who appeared on the hit show Toddlers and Tiaras took her own life, her family told fans on Tuesday (May 3).

Kailia's mother, Marcy Posey Gatterman, posted on Facebook: "I don't have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone."

Later, the heartbroken mother told TMZ in a statement that her daughter "made the rash decision to end her earthly life."

Kailia's body was found Monday inside a car at a park in Washington a few weeks after she celebrated her 16th birthday on April 19 and attended her high school prom last weekend.

As they shared their devastation, the family's heartbreaking statement read: "Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately, in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life.

"She won countless crowns and trophies after competing on the pageant circuit her entire life … Her highly acclaimed talent as a contortionist had already led to professional touring job offers and she had recently been selected to be a cheerleader at her high school next fall.

"Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever."

She rose to fame on the reality TV show Toddlers and Tiara, which followed youngsters and their parents as they competed in beauty pageants.

Kailia kept up with the pageant circuit throughout childhood and her teen years and most recently learned the title of Miss Lynden Teen USA last year.

Since the news of her passing, fans have taken to social media to share their condolences.

One fan tweeted: "I'm so saddened to learn that the beautiful Kailia Posey passed away 🙁 I have admired this girl since she was 6 and I swore she would be the next Miss USA or Miss Universe."

While another added: "So sad so young."

A third person shared: "#KailiaPosey #FlyHigh Arabella and all of these younger girls loved you and watching you on stage was such a treat. You're already missed by many."
