Cop in viral lap dance at Xmas party stuns fans with steamy snap a year later

Vera Mekuli, the New York police officer who hit headlines when she performed a steamy lap dance at her precinct’s Christmas party last year has wished fans a Merry Christmas with a cheeky social media snap.

A year on from the infamous video, the rookie cop, 27, took to Insagram to upload a selfie where she pouts suggestively towards the camera, with the text 'Merry Christmas' overlayed.

A storm ensued when her married boss NYPD Lt. Nick McGarry was filmed enjoying the intimate entertainment, and was subsequently transferred from his post at the 44th Precinct to the Transit Bureau.

Vera appears to have revelled in the notoriety she gained after the “office party” on December 16 last year and just before Christmas this year, hinted there may be more antics.

Earlier this month she boldly posed in her NYPD uniform, captioning the Instagram image with a cryptic message.

She wrote: “Hold up wait a minute… y’all thought I was finished?”

But Christmas has since passed, without Mekuli hitting the headlines again.

On December 17 she did label herself "legendary" as she posed for a cheeky snap on Instagram, but has been relatively quiet since then.

Vera has amassed a legion of fans over the past year, but not everyone is impressed with her antics.

One commenter remarked: “How this broad is still a cop is beyond me."

Another added“People like her are turning the job into a joke. … This is acceptable from a cop? This is back-up if someone is fighting for their life?”

While Vera was suspended earlier this year after attempting to intervene in a relative’s drunk driving arrest, she is still assigned to the 44th Precinct in the Bronx, according to a statement from the NYPD .

The 27-year-old has built an Instagram following of more than 37,000 fans, some of which even boster her NYPD pay packet by sending her money online.

Soon after Vera was recorded putting on a show for Lt McGarry in a bar full of colleagues on December 16, she released an emotional video.

In the clip she apologised to the lieutenant's wife and said that if she were a man who did something similar it wouldn't be nearly as big a deal.

A week later Vera told TMZ that she had not spoken to the lieutenant and was too embarrassed to leave her home.

Her dad warned he would sue over the incident, adding that the married lieutenant she danced for should know better.
