Airport security horrified after shock discovery in passenger's backpack | The Sun

AIRPORT security staff were shocked when they scanned a passenger's backpack to discover a live animal hiding inside.

The bag went through scanners at Dane County Regional Airport in Wisconsin, with airport workers not expecting what appeared on their screens at the security desks.

The outline of a dog, curled up inside the bag, could clearly be seen as the bag made its way through, with the passenger not removing the pet before they arrived.

The American Transport Security Administration shared pictures of the bag on Instagram and explained what passengers need to do when flying with animals.

They said: "When traveling with any animal, notify your airline & know their rules.

"At the checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier, to be screened in the machine."

Some people were shocked at what they'd seen and felt sorry for the puppy.

One wrote: "What’s wrong with these people?"

A second said: "Poor puppy. What are people thinking?! You love your pet enough to take it on vacation with you but you think it’s acceptable to transport him this way?"

The dog isn't the only animal to have been scanned at security recently, with a cat also finding itself in the x-ray machine.

The orange cat was discovered at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York earlier this week after an agent spotted some orange hair poking out of the zipper of the suitcase.

The image, shared on Twitter, showed tufts of ginger fur poking out of the black suitcase between the gaps of the orange zipper.

They joked on social media: "We’re letting the cat out of the bag on a hiss-toric find."

Elsewhere, traveller Haley Koehn took a pet fish on a plane, so she could have it with her on holiday in Florida.

In a video shared to her Tiktok account (@haleykoehn9), Haley revealed how she got her small yellow betta fish Pluto through airport security and onto her flight.

She explained how she managed to take the creature on board the plane, with relatively little fuss.

In the comments, she was asked if she had to inform the airline before flying with her pet.

She replied: "No just went there, they tested his water then let us through."
