What are the amber list rules for UK travellers?

People travelling to the UK from amber list countries have to quarantine for 10 days at home and will need a pre-arrival Covid test, as well as tests on day two and day eight of quarantine.

However, Brits can pay for a fourth test as part of the Test to Release scheme, meaning they can leave the self-isolation earlier.

The government has also announced plans to allow double vaccinated adults and children under the age of 18 to return from amber list countries without quarantine from August.

Brits have been urged to ensure they have the correct travel insurance documents when jetting to an amber list country.

The amber list is not exhaustive. If a country or territory is not on this list, you should not assume that it is a green or red list country or territory.

Countries on the red list include Turkey, the Maldives and Nepal, along with the UAE.

We've explained what Covid tests you may need for your holiday this year, as well as how much they might cost.
