They said that Devon was proving to be the most popular UK holiday destination, with just three per cent of properties available for next weekend.

Bookings in Wiltshire have also soared by 343 per cent, the largest year on year increase of any UK location.

Matt Fox, CEO and Founder of Rest Easy Group said: "As self-catered staycations get the green light, we have seen very limited availability for properties in the top UK holiday destinations."

"The top three locations are Devon, Yorkshire and Cornwall with an extremely low number of properties left in these areas for the coming week."

"We would advise anyone wishing to book a staycation to plan ahead as much as possible, as availability is in short supply."

The next key UK travel date is May 17, when groups of up to six people from different households or unlimited numbers of people from two households can share a holiday let together.
