Boost for Easter holidays as Greece relaxes Covid vaccine rules

GREECE has relaxed its Covid vaccine rules just in time for the Easter holidays.

The popular holiday destination has extended the validity of Covid vaccine certificates, making it easier for Brits to visit.

Previously, vaccinated Brits who had their second dose more than seven months prior to travelling needed to have received the booster jab to enter Greece easily.

If they hadn't had their booster, they were considered unvaccinated.

However, Greece has now extended the validity from seven months to nine months, so the vaccine certificate lasts two months longer – making it easier for Brits to travel.

According to local media, Health Minister Thanos Plevris told Skai TV on Friday: "Expiration of the vaccination certificate after the second vaccine dose will be after nine months and not seven as it is currently."

The change will come as welcome news to any vaccinated Brits who have not yet received their booster jab and plan to go to Greece over the Easter holidays.

Brits with a valid vaccination certificate can enter Greece without needing to do any Covid tests.

Unvaccinated Brits aged five and over need to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival or a rapid antigen test from an authorised laboratory taken within 24 hours prior to arrival.

Alternatively, unvaccinated travellers can show a certificate of recovery from Covid to enter.
