Brit holiday shame is finally over thanks to genius pen that translates 100 languages | The Sun

GETTING around a language barrier is one of the few downsides of being on holiday.

Whether it's trying to order food in a restaurant, or asking someone for directions, not knowing the language of the country you're in always makes life more difficult.

But there are ways around language barriers, especially thanks to the rise in translation technology over the last few years.

One of the latest innovations helping holidaymakers abroad is the NEWYES scan reader dictionary pen 3.0.

The pen can translate between 112 different languages, including both audio and text, making it useful for pretty much any trip abroad.

It is also capable of translating languages offline, meaning that users don't need to be connected to the internet at all times, which is useful when abroad and trying to avoid roaming costs.

The pen is crowd-funded and is designed to have lightning-fast translation speed.

While scanning text, it recognises up to 3,000 characters per minute and has a 0.3-second translation speed with up to 98 per cent accuracy.

Translations can also be saved for later, while audio files can be transferred to laptops via a built-in USB.

The NEWYES pen also has bluetooth connectivity so translations can be listened to on headphones.
