British Airways to recruit more cabin crew in 2022 as holidays boom

BRITISH Airways is recruiting more cabin crew from spring 2022 as the airline predicts a bumper summer for holidays next year.

The flag carrier confirmed today that they hope to start recruiting from January, so they can take to the skies from March 2022.

Crew who apply will be able to earn up to £28,000 per year along with a tax-free subsistence allowance and the airline is also waiving its policy which requires crew to do six months at the airline before taking advantage of staff travel.

Flight crew can opt for both short and long-haul routes, ranging from European hotspots to the more luxurious beach destinations such as Barbados.

British Airways’ Chairman and CEO Sean Doyle said: "After 18 long months of closed or restricted borders across the world, we are finally seeing a demand for travel return as countries start to open up and ease their restrictions.

"This means that we can finally get back to doing what we do best – flying our customers around the world. As we look ahead to next summer, we are excited to start welcoming brilliant new people and former colleagues back to the British Airways family.”

“Everyone is welcome at British Airways; we have an opportunity to give people of all ages and backgrounds the chance to see the world and help shape the future of our airline.

"We know that there are people looking for the first step in their career or a complete career change.

"We will value the skills and experience they will bring to the role to help serve our customers.”

The airline has contacted former staff who expressed an interest in returning and are also looking for other crew members to join to diversify their workplace.

Camille John, who works for British Airways as a cabin crew Inflight Manager, said she joined the airline after working at Harrods.

She added: "The airline combines all the things that make me passionate about my job – giving great customer service, working with incredible people and of course, serious style!”

Applications are now open via the British Airways careers website and assessments will take place throughout November.
