Brits can head to 18 amber list destinations WITHOUT quarantine on arrival – despite gov advice warning against holidays

THERE are 18 countries on the UK's amber list which are welcoming Brits without quarantining on arrival.

Despite government advice warning against holidays to amber list destinations, thousands of Brits headed to Spain today as the country welcomed UK travellers without quarantine or tests.

The PM and government have warned Brits not to travel to Spain as it remains on the amber list.

Boris Johnson's spokesman said: "Our advice hasn't changed in regards to amber list countries.

"We have been clear that people shouldn't be travelling to amber list countries for the purposes of holidays."

However, the following countries are welcoming UK tourists without enforcing a quarantine on arrival:

  • Albania
  • Armenia
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Estonia
  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Kosovo
  • Malta
  • Moldova
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
  • San Marino
  • Serbia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Ukraine

The majority will require a negative Covid test on arrival, or require proof of both vaccine doses so it is worth checking the entry requirements before travelling.

Greece requires a negative Covid test or an NHS vaccination card, while similar restrictions are in place for Italy, Cyprus and Croatia.

Malta will welcome vaccinated Brits from June 1 and even pay holidaymakers up to £173 to visit this summer.

Anyone travelling to an amber list destination can avoid paying for the steep hotel quarantine enforced on red list countries, but will still have to self-isolate at home for 10 days.

A pre-arrival Covid test will also be required, as well as tests on day two and eight of quarantine.

Portugal is currently one of the few holiday destinations on the green list which don't require a UK quarantine although it is hoped that more could be added from June 7, which hopes to include France, Spain, Italy and Greece.

EasyJet, Ryanair and TUI are also still selling flights and holidays to amber list destinations.

The Transport Secretary said more holiday spots will be added to the list of quarantine-free destinations.

He told the Financial Times: "I don’t think people have a very long time to wait before other countries are able to join the green list."

The risk of further travel restrictions comes days after Germany announced that Brits are banned from entering the country.

The move comes after Spain lifted travel restrictions on British visitors, with up to 100,000 holidaymakers expected to fly this week against the government advice.
