Cheap summer holidays for the newly-vaccinated over-50s to celebrate a return to travel – from £35pp a night

NEWLY vaccinated over-50s are leading the charge when it comes to going back on holiday.

Those who've already had (or are soon to receive) their jab can celebrate a return to foreign travel with cheap deals from £35pp a night.

Travel firms have already been reporting a surge in bookings from the over-50s following vaccinations.

The government hope to vaccinate everyone over the age of 50 by May, which means there's plenty of scope to get away from summer onwards.

Older travellers can take a UK break with JustGo for £45pp a night, fly off to Europe for £35pp a night with EasyJet or sail away on a cruise with Cruise1st for £70pp a night.

Some of the best deals for over-50s holidays are:

  • Seven-night short and long haul couples holidays in May and June with TUI – from £216pp
  • Escorted Coach Tours in the UK and Europe with JustGo – from £89pp
  • Seven-night adults-only holidays to Europe with Jet2 – from £307pp
  • Seven-night adults-only holidays to Europe with EasyJet – from £245pp
  • Escorted worldwide tours with Newmarket Holidays including three-day Andre Rieu Concerts – from £494pp
  • Short and long haul cruises with Cruise1st – from £490pp
  • European tours with Titan Travel – from £1,049

It is thought that the boom in over-50s bookings is due to "vaccine confidence" of those receiving the jab.

TUI, the UK's largest tour operator, says 50 per cent of bookings on their website are currently by over-50s.

Destinations include Greece and Spain, both popular holidays with Brits, while bookings are for a fortnight instead of the usual seven nights.

National Express has also seen a surge in bookings from the older generation for UK holidays.

The travel firm, whose clients are mainly aged 65 and over saw a 185 per cent increase in bookings for spring and summer staycations.

Head of holidays at National Express Jit Desai said: "Many are having their first jabs and know that in around 12 weeks they will be having their second, and that gives them a level of certainty that they will be able to enjoy their 2021 holiday."

Though it's not possible to travel abroad at the moment due to the UK lockdown, banning all non-essential travel, there are a number of sales running that offer bargains for a holiday later in the year.

Travelzoo have cheap UK, short-haul and long-haul holiday vouchers, including the Maldives from £60pp a night.

Newmarket Holidays have 15% off 2021 coach trip breaks, Sandals have up to 45% off far flung holiday destinations and Virgin Atlantic have up to 30% off flights to Orlando, Las Vegas and the Caribbean.

If you fancy staying in the UK, holiday parks are also offering huge bargains – some of which start from £3pp a night.
