Group holidays at large self-catered properties for up to six people from £13pp a night

MAY 17 is the date that groups of up to six people from different households or unlimited numbers of people from two households can share a holiday let together.

It means that this summer is going to be a fantastic opportunity to get family or friends together for a big group holiday.

Several holiday companies have big discounts for June travel for up to six people, with some offering up to 23 per cent off.

And just because they're big properties, it doesn't mean they cost the earth to stay.

We've found seven properties that have room for at least six guests and cost from just £13 per person a night.

Here's our pick of the best places to book for your group summer holiday.

North Penlean Oak, Bude, Cornwall


Cottages don't get more charming than this property in North Cornwall, which is based on a working farm.

It's surrounded by lovely views, which can be enjoyed from the kitchen, dining area and lounge, which has a wood burning fire.

As well as Cornwall's north coast including Bude, Widemouth Bay being on your doorstep, North Devon is just over the border with lots of attractions.

Big Barn, York, Yorkshire


Not far from York city centre is this 18th century farm building which has room for six people.

It has a large landscaped courtyard where guests can fire up the barbecue, surrounded by open fields.

As well as the cobbled streets of York, Thirsk, Ripon, Wetherby and Beverley are in the area, as is Castle Howard with its open air summer concerts and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Hen Harrier Cottage, Caton-with-Littledale, Lancashire


Great for families or groups of friends wanting a country, this cottage surrounded by great views, cycling and walking routes.

Accessed via a rough track, the modern converted barn is in the Lune Valley in Lancashire and has room for eight guests, as well as three pets, plus a games room.

It's a great base for exploring Lancashire, south Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This historic property comes with a hot tub and is set in beautiful grounds with a private garden overlooking the water.

Groups will find loads to do near this cottage in Somerset – which is not far from historic Wells, Cheddar, Bath and Bristol.

Picnic tables and benches in the communal front garden are are perfect for drinks or dinner in the warm weather.

Les Charmettes, Haslemere, Surrey


Just 50 minutes from London by train is this Alpine inspired property, with brilliant Sussex and Surrey pubs a taxi ride away.

Ideal for a family getaway, it's just two miles from beautiful Haslemere but is also in the heart of the rural South Downs.
