At first she thought she was ‘a little burnt’ and it would be ‘fine,’ but in the evening her pink face started to hurt.

She thought maybe sleep would help, but when she woke up the next morning her face was severely swollen, with small blisters on her skin, her eyes puffed up and her lips almost double in size.

After the redness died down, photos show how her skin developed a leathery texture and peeled off.

Many commenters sympathized with Ellie, as they revealed they’d endured similar sun damage.

TikToker @llioeriin revealed she had a similar result to Ellie after being blasted by too much sun.

At one point she couldn’t open either of her eyes or see anything as her eyelids were so swollen.

By the time she headed to the airport to go home, her entire face started peeling.

TikToker @kelcrid22 said she sustained severe sunburn on her legs and as a result, she was unable to walk properly for two days.

She explained to viewers that she burnt despite applying sunscreen.

After blistering, her legs started to peel ‘like glue’ and it took around four weeks for them to heal properly.

The majority of viewers commented on how painful it looked.

Samantha Vingers reveals in her sunburn-themed TikTok that she called the hotel doctor while she was in Aruba, because her skin was so painful.

However, the medic applied gauze and medical tape directly on the burn, which proved very difficult to peel off without doing further damage.

She captioned the video clip: ‘Throwback to the absolute worst sunburn I’ve ever had in my life.

‘For all my fair skinned people (and people who tan easily) don’t be an idiot like me – keep reapplying sunscreen.’

Texas-based Carlie Spurgeon said she learned her lesson after getting too much sun.

In her TikTok, she reveals how she got seasick on a boat and passed out for hours.

With the wind on the top deck making things feel cooler, she thought her skin was fine.

However, when she got back to land she realized she was very burnt with white patches around her eyes where her sunglasses had been.

It then took a week for her visage to look ‘normal’ again.
