How to avoid the big mistake most families make before visiting a Disney theme park for the first time

GOING to a Disney theme park for the first time is incredibly exciting, and lots of people want to plan their trip thoroughly before they go.

But a Disney expert has warned guests that there is a common mistake people make before they visit a Disney theme park for the first time – and it could ruin your trip.

Travel planner Rebecca James helps a lot families who are going on their first trip to Disney World.

She explained that they will often come to her having spoken to friends and family who have been before, and they have plans to try and do everything they've been told about.

But she warned that is a bad idea, and is something first time visitors should avoid at all costs.

She told Sun Online Travel: "Whenever I get a client who has never been to Disney World, I ask them who they have asked for advice about their trip and then tell them not to ask anyone else."

"It's so easy to get overwhelmed with people telling you the best way to do the parks, so you can feel like you've got too much information.

"The best thing to do it listen to a couple of people and a travel expert and then come up with a plan."

Rebecca also warned first time visitors to avoid delving into a Disney forum or a Facebook group, as that could make you panic.

She continued: "You can't do it all and you need to come to terms with that early on."

"If you get sucked into a forum or a Facebook group you can feel really stressed out.

"Pick the essential things you want to do and stick to them. If you try and do everything you'll exhaust yourself and feel disappointed when you can't."

A Disney super-fan revealed there's another common mistake people make when they visit the theme park for the first time.

Tiktok user Emily shared a video explaining that when some people go on their first trip, they make a strict itinerary for their days in the parks and don't plan for any breaks.

Then when they get tired from running around the theme park for hours, they can't take a break otherwise they'll be behind on their plans.

She explained that it's key to plan breaks into your day and, if you don't end up needing them, you can use the time to do another ride or see a different attraction.
