I was slammed for laughing too much on a flight – I can’t believe no one was on my side | The Sun

A PASSENGER was shocked after she and her friend laughed so much that they disturbed other passengers on board a flight.

The 30-year-olds annoyed people on board the plane by laughing too much, after spilling some orange juice.

The pair had been drinking heavily before boarding the flight, which had put them in a giggly mood.

Although they tried not to disturb other people their laughter was enough to shake the seat and prevent the person behind from falling asleep.

The woman reached out to Reddit to find out if she had behaved badly, where she found little support from the general public.

She wrote: "Me and my friend were on a long haul flight and had a bunch of drinks at the airport already and then continued drinking in the airplane while watching comedy shows to pass the time.

Passenger slammed for disturbing sleeping woman 4 times to visit loo on flight

"We tried our best not to disturb anyone or be loud or anything.

"My friend accidentally spilled orange juice all over my pants, and I looked like I peed myself. We both found it hilarious and I started just laughing uncontrollably.

"Soon after the person behind us suddenly yelled, 'will you please stop shaking the seat, I can't sleep', I guess the laughing made me bounce in my seat and that was causing them disturbance?

"Was I being unreasonable for laughing enough to apparently disturb someone sitting behind me?"

The woman found no sympathy from other Reddit users, some of whom described her as "obnoxious" and "annoying".

One wrote: "Rowdy drunk people are annoying at the best of times. Stuck with them on a cramped plane during a long haul flight is very frustrating."

Another said: "While you were having a good time, the people around you had to put up with you, something people forget when they're drunk and being loud.

A third added: "Just so you know, the entire plane talked about how obnoxious you were."

Flight attendants often hate having to deal with drunk passengers and have tactics to make things easier.

One method is known as "artificial turbulence" which involves turning the seatbelt sign on to make sure all passengers, including the drunk ones, are sat in their seats and belted up.

The trick was revealed by a Ryanair pilot, who told the Mirror that it can help stop the attendants from worrying while carrying out their jobs.

The pilot said: "Sometimes if the passengers are being annoying then the cabin crew ask us to turn the seatbelt signs on as if there's turbulence, just so everyone sits down and the cabin crew can relax."

The tactic was backed up by a flight attendant, who labelled it "artificial turbulence".

Other attendants have revealed the routes they hate flying on – because of the higher chance of them encountering drunk passengers.

One British flight attendant said: "In the summer we get some proper horrific flights.

"Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca tend to be pretty bad because of everyone flocking south for summer. IBZ for obvious reasons being worse than the others."

Another agreed, explaining: "A group of girls on a hen do left their extremely intoxicated friend behind on the plane whilst disembarking in Ibiza.

"Thing is she was in the aisle seat so they would have had to climb over her to leave. A friend had to wheel her off the plane & through the airport in a wheelchair."
