I'm a Celebrity theme park to open in the UK this summer

Ever wanted to take part in a bushtucker trial but don’t quite have the celebrity status required?

Well the good news is a theme park based around the popular ITV show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is opening this summer.

And fortunately, given the current pandemic, you won’t have to fly to Australia to try it out.

I’m A Celebrity… Jungle Challenge will be based at Lowry Outlet Mall in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Guests will compete in a 90-minute series of tasks, including  zipwires, mazes, climbing walls and parachute-style drops.

To make it feel like the set-up from the show, there’s also recreations of Main Camp, Croc Creek and Snake Rock.

There won’t be any live animals used but they will uses virtual elements instead.

The aim will be for guests to collect as many stars as possible for a chance to  be crowned king or or queen of the jungle.

Expect lots of picture opportunities too – whether it’s on the winner’s bridge or the throne.

William van Rest, ITV’s director of games, live and merchandising, said: ‘We’re trying to create a jungle as closely as we can.

‘Some of the games within I’m A Celebrity are things like treetop challenges, and one of the team who helps create the games for I’m A Celebrity is helping us with this.’

An opening date hasn’t been confirmed yet due to the coronavirus restrictions but the team hopes to open this summer, as soon as they are allowed to.

A statement on the website says: ‘The Jungle Challenge team are working hard to get the attraction ready for a 2021 opening, however, as you can imagine we too are having to accommodate the challenges presented by COVID-19.’
