I'm a frequent flyer & I never book plane seats next to the person I travel with | The Sun

A FREQUENT FLYER has revealed why she never books seats directly next to the people she is flying with.

Getting good seats on a plane can be difficult, but there are ways to create extra room for yourself.

One of those methods involves sitting apart from the person you're travelling with. Well, just one seat away.

Tiktok travel expert @janelleonajet has explained how booking seats that are one seat apart from one another can lead to you getting a whole row to just the two of you.

In a video she said: "Stop booking the middle seat. No one wants the middle seat, absolutely no one.

"Instead, when you're booking with your partner, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your friend, whoever, you're going to book the aisle and the window seat.

What your plane seat says about you – and it isn’t good for window seat fans

People are only just realizing plane seats have a built in neck pillow

"No one wants the middle seat, so there's a chance no one buys the middle seat or gets placed in the middle seat between you and then you have a whole row to yourselves.

"If there's an aisle seat open, 100 out of 100 times, that person is going to pick the aisle seat over the middle seat."

Janelle's seat hack to get extra space only works if the plane has empty seats.

However, should someone get put in the middle seat between you and your travel companion, there is a way you can still at least sit together.

She continued: "Let's say they do seat someone in your middle seat. You have the option to trade with them because absolutely no one wants to sit in the middle seat.

"You could offer to trade for your aisle or window seats. They will say yes and then you can still sit next to each other."
