Malta has been added to the "green" list due to having some of the lowest cases of Covid across Europe – with no new cases reported yesterday.

The holiday island is also the leading EU destination for the vaccine.

It also has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, with 58.6 per cent of people fully vaccinated.

These are the best deals for those keen to lock in a holiday to Malta:

  • Thomas Cook – Topaz Hotel in July from £240pp
  • Thomas Cook – San Antonio Hotel – all-inclusive in July from £574pp
  • Easyjet Holidays – Luna Holiday Complex in July from £427pp
  • Jet2 Holidays – Gillieru Hotel – bed and breakfast in July from £364pp

Prices were correct at time of publishing.

Malta recently announced that it would be allowing vaccinated Brits to visit without restrictions from June 1, but they are also offering to pay tourists as much as £173 to book a holiday.

Brits who travel to "green" list countries will be able to return to England without quarantine restrictions but will require a pre-flight Covid test as well as a PCR test on day two of returning to the UK.

Countries that are on the "Amber" list require a negative Covid test before arrival in the UK, plus two further tests once in the country and a ten-day quarantine at home.

Arrivals from "red" list countries would have to isolate at a quarantine hotel for 10 days, at a cost of £1,750.
