New holiday park with 'floating' lodges, restaurant and water sports area to open in UK | The Sun

A NEW holiday park could soon open in the UK, with floating lodges, a water sports centre, and a restaurant.

Plans have been approved for Hollybush Lakes Holiday Park in Aldershot in Hampshire.

The original plans were put forward by Baca Architects on behalf of Drayparcs Developments Ltd in June 2020 but they were amended last year to reduce the number of proposed lodges on the site.

According to Hampshire Live, developers said the proposals give a "unique visitor experience with an emphasis on outdoor sports that harmonises with its lakeside setting".

The 16.5-acre site, which is situated near the A331,will feature nine floating holiday lodges with three to four bedrooms in each building.

There are already six man-made lakes on the site, which once formed part of the Blackwater Valley Footpath.

The project aims to re-open these lakes for the public.

Kayaking, boating, and an inflatable water-based assault course will be part of the water sports area.

There will also be a restaurant, an indoor children's play area and a gym in the aquatic centre.

Meanwhile, the equestrian centre will provide schooling facilities for a local riding school as well as overnight guest accommodation.

Last week, Rushmoor Borough Council in Hampshire granted planning permission for the site.

Hollybush Lakes Holiday park isn't the only new resort that's been planned for the UK market.

A £300 million holiday resort has been planned for the UK and is set to include a snow centre and a tropical waterpark.

The plans for Rhydycar West in Wales are set to be submitted to the council soon.

The 575-acre site, which is situated on a former coal mine, will include the UK's largest and longest indoor snow centre, a tropical waterpark and an adventure centre.

Zip wires, climbing walls, high rope courses and slides will be part of an adventure zone with both indoor and outdoor centres.

Meanwhile, a theme park that has been dubbed the 'UK Disneyland' is scheduled to open in 2025 – even though plans were scaled back in last December.

A huge new £250m indoor water park and spa is also opening in the UK soon, with Manchester's Therme to open in 2023.
