One Hundred Shoreditch, London, review

A trendy and relaxed east London hotel with top-notch cafes, elegant bedrooms and a cracking fish restaurant.

Read on to find out more about the rooms and what the best items on the menu are.

Where is One Hundred Shoreditch?

One Hundred Shoreditch is both the name of the hotel and it's address and a reflection of the hotel itself – practical and classy.

It's in the middle of London's Shoreditch High Street, a five-minute walk from the Overground and just over ten minutes from Liverpool Street and Moorgate.

What is One Hundred Shoreditch like?

Clean and minimalist rooms, a relaxed coffee shop with plant-based pastries and a sleek bar lit by dim, orange lamps have made One Hundred Shoreditch the new hip hang-out in east London.

Midweek in the afternoon, the lobby lounge was busy with artistic business types sipping on freshly brewed coffee at the long communal tables or on cushioned armchairs that make up the hotel’s co-working space.

What is there to do at One Hundred Shoreditch?

You’re in the thick of the action, so it’s well worth getting stuck into Shoreditch’s notorious nightlife, with clubs like XOYO and trendy bars all within walking distance.

The hotel also has its own buzzing bar downstairs, headed up by award-winning bartender Mr Lyan and a rooftop bar is opening next month.

It’s set to be a top spot for cocktails with great views of the capital’s glowing skyline.

What is there to eat and drink at One Hundred Shoreditch?

If you’re a fan of fresh seafood, you would be crazy to venture elsewhere as the hotel’s Goddard & Gibbs restaurant is heaving with non-hotel guests drawn by the lip-smacking sea bream ceviche, Vietnamese-dressed oysters and crispy hake Kyiv.

The menu features a “raw bar” plus sharing platters of crab claws, scallops and prawns, all smothered in garlic butter.

There are options for veggies and those who don’t like fish, too.

This is also where breakfast is served – a less extravagant affair with classic egg dishes and all the basics.

What are the rooms at One Hundred Shoreditch like?

Rooms, and much of the furniture in them, have been designed to be an “oasis of calmness”. And the owners have nailed it.

Decorated with wooden chairs and earthy toned murals, my loft room had floor-to-ceiling bay windows that looked out over the urban vista.

And the bathroom was dripping with ultra-luxurious DS & Durga lotions and potions.

How much is One Hundred Shoreditch?

Rates start at £220 per night for a Studio Room. See onehundredshoreditch.com.
