Passenger gives stranger a tattoo during a flight – and people are divided | The Sun

A MAN has sparked debate online after he gave a stranger a tattoo during a flight.

The tattoo artist from Texas was on board a plane next to a woman who told him she was interested in getting inked, but wasn't sure where to go.

The man happened to have his tattoo equipment with him in his carry on luggage and offered to do it right there and then.

After sanitising his equipment in the plane toilet and checking with a flight attendant that they were okay to continue, the artist tattooed the word "hello" in lower case letters on the woman's wrist.

Video footage of the mid-flight tattoo was posted to the man's TikTok where it has now been watched more than four million times.

Plenty of people have been inspired by the video, with some saying a mid-air inking was now on their bucket list while others described it as the "new mile high club".

Another hoped to be fortunate enough to bump into him on his next flight.

They wrote: "If you happen to be flying from LA to Miami in November I’d like to make an appointment!"

However, not everyone was quite so impressed with the video, with several people questioning how clean it would really be in a plane.

The US Transport Security Administration (TSA) shared the footage on their Instagram page, where people seemed more concerned than inspired.

One said: "This is so unsanitary and unsafe for literally everyone. please don’t encourage this kind of behaviour."

Another wrote: "I can’t even fly without getting COVID from unmasked coughing passengers sitting next to me and this dude is over here creating open wounds in there."

Cleanliness wasn't the only concern either with others wondering how the tattoo artist managed to get his needles and tattoo gun through security.

One said: "I can’t get a bottle of opened water on the plane and you got a whole tattoo gun…"

However, the TSA explained that tattoo equipment was indeed permitted in carry on luggage.

They said: "Your tattoo equipment is good to fly in both your carry-on and checked bag! Your ink however, will need to comply to our liquids rule of 3.4oz or less.

"Oh, and if you're trying to leave a lasting mark on your flight, for realism… it really is best to ask your airlines first for their rules and guidance."
