A NEW holiday park with 400 lodges, activity centre and indoor swimming pool could soon open in Yorkshire.
New plans for Flaxby Park, which would be built on a former golf course near Harrogate reveal the new resort which could open to guests in the next few years, if approved.
The park would be built across 280 acres of land, and calls itself an "eco-lodge resort."
Guests will be able to stay at one of the 400 lodges, or at the 30-bedroom hotel, which has a spa, swimming pool and other facilities.
The resort would also have a village centre, similar to Center Parcs, which has dining facilities including a pub and restaurant, as well as a cafe and gift shop.
Families who want to stay entertained will be able to relax on the open and play space with 215,000sqft of sport faciilities.
A statement in planning application explains: "The proposal is to develop a sustainable eco-lodge resort which sits comfortably within the natural environment, providing a 'getaway destination' that is rural in feel but with easy access from main urban areas."
"The driving principle of the resort is to allow visitors to reconnect with nature within an ecologically rich environment.
"This facility will provide exceptional contemporary eco-lodges, intended to attract the most discerning visitors. In this respect, the Flaxby Leisure Park will target a very different market to other existing lodge facilities operating locally and within the wider Yorkshire area."
An official opening date has not yet been given as the proposals still need to be approved.
However, it isn't the only exciting project planned for the UK in the next few years.
In Manchester, both a Nerf laser combat arena and a huge new indoor water park and spa hope to open in the next decade.
Another attraction is a £75m water park inspired by Indiana Jones which could be opening in Bournemouth.
The Elysium Waterpark will be the largest in the UK, stretching 75 acres across Poole and the New Forest.
However, the biggest investment for the UK is the London Resort theme park, dubbed the "UK Disneyland".
The theme park, billed as one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever in Europe, hopes to open in 2024.
It will eventually be a two park resort, with the first gate opening in 2024 and the second expected in 2029, a decade from now.
