Ryanair crew to go on strike for five MONTHS | The Sun

RYANAIR cabin crew across Spain have confirmed that they will strike for five MONTHS lasting until January.

Crew will walk out for four days a week, taking place from Monday to Thursday.

The Ryanair strikes will start from August 8, and run every week until January 7.

The strike action is backed both by the USO and Sitclpa union groups, who are demanding 22 days of holiday and two extra months payment per year to comply with Spanish legislation.

"As the company has been unable to listen to the workers, we have been forced to call new strike days," said Lidia Aransanz, a leader for USO's Ryanair section.

The union said 11 cabin staff in Spain were fired during the recent strikes.

Ryanair issues warning for Brits booking flights this year

Ryanair workers caused disruption at many Spanish airports this month when they walked out for several days, mainly on weekends.

Ten Spanish airports have been affected, including Madrid, Malaga, Barcelona, Alicante, Sevilla, Palma, Valencia, Girona, Santiago de Compostela and Ibiza.

The number of cancelled flights was limited compared to other countries where Ryanair staff have also gone on strike as Spanish regulation forces airlines and staff to maintain a minimum service.

A Ryanair spokesperson previously said the action was "poorly supported" and called by unions representing "tiny numbers" of staff.

They also said they expected "minimal disruptions" during the walkouts.

They said: "Less than one per cent of Ryanair’s flights have been affected in the past month by recent minor and poorly supported cabin crew strikes called by unions who are either not recognised by or who represent tiny numbers of Ryanair crews.

EasyJet staff are also planning a strike this week, from July 29 till July 31.
