Ryanair is launching cheap flights from the UK to Lapland in time for Christmas – here’s how much it’ll cost families | The Sun

BRITS can soon fly to Lapland for a Christmas break, with Ryanair launching a route there from London Stanstead.

The Finnish region known for its ski resorts, midnight sun and the northern lights, as well as being the home of Santa Claus, is ideal for a Christmas holiday break.

Families will be able to fly there with Ryanair from October 30, when the winter trips begin.

They will be available until the end of March, with flights making the trip on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday of every week.

A family of four can get flights from £38.98 per person, or £141.92 altogether.

A four-night stay for two adults and two children is available in the region's capital Rovaniemi from £173.

It gets very, very cold in Lapland in winter, and is normally between 0 and -20C, but can be as cold as -40C.

Anyone tempted to go will need to pack the warmest clothes possible, including snow boots, snow trousers and coats, thermals, wool socks and jumpers.

When there, visitors can go to Santa Claus Holiday Village, known as the "official" home of Santa Claus.

Kids can meet Santa every day at the holiday village and can have their photos taken with him and the elves.

The village has accommodation for anyone wanting to stay in a fully equipped cabin.

Families can also meet Santa at Levi – a ski resort in Kittilä that's popular with snowboarders as well as skiers.

It's Finland's biggest ski resort and also has its very own dedicated Santa Claus experience, called Santa Claus Levi.

Families can book an hour at Santa Claus Levi, where they will visit Santa's home, which includes an an elf school, workshop and houses, as well as Christmas drinks and biscuits.

The whole family will get to meet Father Christmas and kids will also get a present.
