Stay in a converted train carriage by the beach in Devon for your next holiday

Although the overseas travel green list has now been introduced, it’ll likely be a staycation summer.

Holidays across the UK are a great option if you’d rather not brave the plane, and even better if the weather plays ball.

One unique holiday spot is this one in Devon, where you can stay in an old train carriage.

The Brunel Boutique Holiday Park has five converted train carriages, all just a short walk to a Blue Flag beach and the resort of Dawlish Warren.

Ideal if you have little ones who love trains, these MK1 railway carriages date from the 1950s and 1960s, and have recently been renovated to a high standard.

Although from the outside they look like the closest you’ll get to amenities is a catering trolley, each of the carriages have three bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, flat screen TV, WIFI and even under-floor heating.

With the beach just a short walk away, these train unique properties offer plenty of opportunities for days at the beach, family cycling, a cliff top walk or even just popping into Dawlish Warren for an ice cream.

There’s even a communal garden area with garden furniture – perfect for al fresco dining on a warm summer’s evening.

Train-mad families can continue to fuel their train obsession and walk to Dawlish Warren train station, or spot real ones from the mainline near the property.

Nearby Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve is worth a visit, plus Brunel Boutique Holiday Park is within easy reach of seaside favourites such as Torquay and the famous Dorset Jurassic Coast.

Just bring your own conductor’s hat for the full experience.

Brunel Boutique Railway Carriages cost from £395 per week.
