The £200m adventure park with surf lake, beach and hotel planned to open in the UK

A HUGE new £200m attraction with a surf lake, ropes course and man-made beach has announced their latest plans to open in the UK.

Eden Westwood, located on the M5 in Devon, would also include a shopping centre, food hall and hotel.

The new development would be split into four zones, each with different attractions and amenities.

Also on-site the 71-hectare attraction would be a visitor centre, restaurants and cafes.

Guests would be able to access it from the M5 motorway, being adjacent to junction 27.

The surf lagoon is expected to be similar to Surf Snowdonia in Wales, while the attraction has been backed by Sir Tim Smit, the man behind the Eden Project.

The resort, which has been in the works for six years, hopes to move forward to the next step, according to local councillors with plans to invest in the area to raise "significant revenues".

Independent councillor Bob Deed said it was time to "take the brakes off the development" adding: "What it needs is there to be a caucus that are interested in developing junction 27, if for no other reason, than it will produce employment for people within the district and income for Mid Devon.

"So, I'm very interested to seriously start the dialogue to do something with the junction 27 area."

Deputy chief executive Andrew Jarrett added: "It would be brilliant for Mid Devon – and this is just from a financial perspective – if there was sizable development of both of those motorway junctions.

"I know there are always mixed feelings and emotions about the size of the economic growth in a beautiful rural area like we live in, but it has to be the right growth at the right time in the right place."

It isn't the only new development planned for the UK in the next few years.

A £300million attraction is to open in Blackpool, with three huge indoor theme parks, live performances and a number of rides and shows.

A huge new £250m indoor water park and spa is also opening in the UK soon, with Manchester's Therme to open in 2023.

And the theme park being dubbed "the UK's Disneyland" recently announced plans to have a Game of Thrones-style themed land.
