The best Christmas takeovers at theme parks this year – from Alton Towers to Peppa Pig World

CHRISTMAS is fast approaching and the UK's biggest theme parks are dusting off their baubles and hanging the festive lights in preparation.

If you fancy treating the kids to some extra fun this season, all of the parks are running some of their most popular rides alongside their Christmas entertainment.

Drayton Manor Park

Christmas at Drayton manor Park will feature live shows, decorations, falling snow, a new magical Grotto experience and an all-new festive show in the 4D cinema.  

From November 13 to December 30, guests will also have access to 25 family-friendly rides and attractions in Thomas Land, plus other rides.

New for 2021 is an enchanted Christmas walk-through with the park’s elves, where little ones can enjoy story time with Mrs Claus, make reindeer food and meet Father Christmas.

Also new this year is a 4D show, A Christmas Wish – an interactive show is full of magic, songs and jokes for the whole family.

Guests can then end their day with a sing-a-long and firework show by the lake with Father Christmas, Mrs Claus and the elves. Tickets for Magical Christmas are on sale now.

Alton Towers Resort

From November 27, the Festive Day Out at Alton Towers will feature a traditional Christmas market, with more than 60 food and drink stalls.

Entry to the Christmas market is free and guests can then buy a Festive Day Out ticket, which access to CBeebies Land and Gangsta Granny: The Ride, as well as Alton Towers Gardens Lights Walk: Twinkling Stars.

The park is also hosting Lightopia, which will take guests on a journey through the four seasons with lanterns, light installations and a water show.

Chessington World of Adventures Resort 

Winter’s Tail is back at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, with the Father Christmas Grotto, Christmas market, selected theme park rides and zoo all included in the ticket price.

New for 2021 is Chessington’s Wildest Panto, a story that brings the spirit of Christmas to life.

Children can also join the elves on an interactive adventure as they sneak into the Magical Christmas Kitchen to create delicious festive delights.

Tickets start from £20pp.

Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World

Paultons Park will be celebrating Christmas on weekends and selected dates from December 4 – 23.

The park will be transformed to a Christmas wonderland and Peppa fans will have the opportunity to meet Peppa and George in their seasonal outfits.

Guests can enjoy a light show at the gateway building with a giant musical Christmas tree coming to life every 15 minutes.

Additionally, Santa’s Special Christmas Show will run twice daily with additional performances from Frosty in his ‘Snowtime Show’, or families can settle down for a Christmas story with Santa.

A variety of rides and attractions throughout the park will be open, including in the themed lands of Lost Kingdom, Little Africa and Critter Creek.

Christmas tickets cost £33 each for those over 1m tall or £134 for a family of four.
