The bizarre egg vending machines in Ireland that are baffling holidaymakers | The Sun

A COUPLE of American tourists were left baffled by an egg vending machine that they came across on their holiday in rural Ireland.

Small cultural differences often leave big impressions on holidaymakers when they head abroad – and that was definitely the case for the pair on their recent visit to the Emerald Isle.

While driving through Offaly county, tourist Aaron Craig was amazed to spot one of the machines selling trays of eggs, so much so that he had to buy some.

In a video he shared via his Instagram, he is seen laughing in disbelief with his partner at the machine, particularly at how many eggs he was able to buy for €7 (£6), with his tray containing 30.

Aaron captioned the video: "I just found an egg vending machine in Ireland. I was not expecting the amount of eggs I just got."

He is seen tapping his card on the contactless reader before waiting for one of the doors open, revealing his egg tray.

He and his partner are both amazed at how cheaply they were able to buy quite so many eggs for the price, with American egg prices much higher than those in Europe.

Aaron is heard saying: "This is seven dollars? This would've been $1,000 in America.

"I was not expecting that. Wow!"

Other people were amazed by the footage too, with lots of people leaving comments.

The machines aren't the only thing that Americans have been baffled by on their visits to Europe recently.

British behaviour in some tourist attractions has left some visitors from across the pond feeling very confused.

Laura and Nathan Curton are no strangers to witnessing surprised Americans take in British quirks.

The husband and wife duo have personally been hosting American holidaymakers in their 18th Century thatched English cottage for the last three years.

As part of their English Cottage Vacation experience, the couple offer bespoke, all-inclusive, and luxurious holidays and have welcomed numerous American tourists.

Nathan told the Sun Online Travel: "Everyone saying good morning at tourist attractions is something Americans find surprising.

"It's because they're seeing people in a good mood.

"We go down to the village and everyone says hello, our guests find it very nice."
