A NEW theme park could soon open in the UK – and it's often voted the second best in Europe.

Puy du Fou in France is the second most popular theme park in Europe after Disneyland Paris.

Despite having no rides or rollercoasters, it attracts more than two million people a year.

Having opened a Puy du Fou in Spain in 2019, the theme park is looking for a third location – which could be in the UK.

Estate agent Savills confirmed that the park is looking for a 300-400 acre site in the country, and is currently looking within a 40-mile radius of Oxford.

Ian Simpson, head of the leisure and trade-related team at Savills, told the Oxford Mail: “Puy du Fou is an incredibly popular interactive visitor attraction that centres its shows on a country’s unique history.

"The operator has been attracted to the UK because of the richness and depth of British history and culture and we are delighted to support the group in its search.

“In recent years we have seen the popularity of experiential and immersive visitor attractions grow in the UK and with the UK’s extensive history, this will add a unique experience for the British public.”

Puy du Fou, near Les Epesses in western France, first opened in 1978.

The park features historical re-enactments including Viking ship battles and kings fighting over lands – all set in the Middle Ages.

The second park in Spain is just an hour's drive from Madrid, on the outskirts of Toledo city.
