The huge new driving attraction set to open in the UK this year – and it's the first in the world | The Sun

THE WORLD'S first official Formula 1 karting experience is set to open in the UK later this year.

Budding drivers will be able to get behind the wheel of the new, bespoke electric karts to try their hand at one of three track layouts.

Earlier this year, Formula 1 and Tottenham Hotspur announced a partnership to deliver the in stadium electric karting facility and London’s longest indoor track.

Ahead of a launch date later in 2023, the official name of the new karting experience has been announced as F1 DRIVE- London.

The track is being built beneath the stadium's single-tier south stand, with the retractable pitch at the stadium providing them with enough space.

It has been constructed by leading track engineers and will offer "high speed, exciting racing".

"The development of the cutting-edge track and kart design has been fantastic to see and we can’t wait to welcome our first racers later this year”

Todd Kline, Chief Commercial Officer, Tottenham Hotspur, added: “We are thrilled with how the karting facility is taking shape and with the interest received since we announced the project in February."

Even with the track set to open later this year, information is still being closely guarded.

The track layout and design of the e-karts will not be revealed until later this summer.

The opening date is also yet to be made public.

However, people can now register their interest to be one of the first on the grid ahead of the launch.

They can do that at the Tottenham Hotspur website or on the F1-Drive London site.

Alongside the experience, F1 and Spurs have said they will also develop a new driver academy programme to widen the motorsport talent pool and help identify the next generation of drivers.

The new deal will deliver educational activities for schools to engage local young people in motorsport and showcase career opportunities such as engineering and software development.

As part of the partnership, F1 will also collaborate with the Premier League club on sustainability initiatives that promote environmental responsibility.
