The UK beach that has been called 'paradise' and likened to the Caribbean | The Sun

A BEACH in the UK has been dubbed "paradise" by holidaymakers with beautiful blue waters and stretches of sand.

As well as the sandy beaches, you can go kayaking in the shallow waters or arrange a boat trip to a nearby volcanic island.

Compared to the Caribbean by holidaymakers and locals, Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris in Scotland has secluded sandy beaches and pristine turquoise.

Last year, the Scottish beach was named one of the Best Beaches at the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The Scottish beach came seventh overall in Europe thanks to its miles of white sand, beautiful green-blue water, and impressive sand dunes

And it's not just the experts who've been praising the Scottish sands.

Direct flights to Stornoway operate from Edinburgh and Glasgow, while several ferry services connect the Isle of Harris to the Scottish mainland.

In total, the island has around 550 people living there.

However, tourists often visit during the summer with attractions including several beaches, whiskey distilleries, and boat excursions.

Holidaymakers who want to make a beeline for Luskentyre Beach will be best to take a ferry from Uig to the Port of Tarbert.

Ferry journeys take two hours and cost £13.70 for an adult return ticket for a foot passenger.

Once on the island, Luskentyre Beach is a twenty-minute drive from the port.

In the summer months, the car park can get quite busy so it's best to arrive before 9 am to make sure you get a parking spot.

There are also several other beaches on the island including Seilebost Beach, MacLeod´s Stone, and Sgarasta Mhòr Beach.

As well as going to the beach, there are plenty of other activities on the island including the Isle of Harris whisky and gin distillery.

Holidaymakers can also go island hopping to the smaller islands around the coast of Harris.

Hiking and cycling are two other popular holiday pastimes but most people head to the island for its sandy beaches.

The island has several dining options including options from cafes to restaurants, and you can stay at a variety of different accommodation options including hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs, and campsites.

Luskentyre Beach isn't the only slice of paradise in the UK, a group of islands in the UK that have been compared to the Maldives.
