The UK's most beautiful beaches revealed

The arrival of spring is just weeks away and it’s got us thinking about our holiday plans.

Due to the pandemic and restrictions, staycations have been a popular choice over the past two years.

Thankfully, the UK is home to some incredible beauty spots – many of which rival popular locations abroad.

For those considering a break by the coast this year, some of the UK’s most beautiful beaches have been revealed in a new study.

The research, conducted by luxuryhotel.com, analysed Instagram data and beach length to find the ones with the most ‘hashtags per metre.’

Perhaps unsurprisingly, a spot in Cornwall tops the list – however, it’s not in St Ives, Newquay or Falmouth.

Kynance Cove, in Mount’s Bay, came in first place – despite being just 200m long – with nearly 55,000 hashtags.

However, surfer spot Fistral beach in Cornwall did make it into the top three, in third position. It was beaten by Brighton Beach which scooped the second spot.

Another Cornwall location, Porthcurno Beach, also placed within the top 10 in seventh place.

Likewise, Durdle Door Beach, Botany Bay and Scarborough Beach all featured in the rankings.

The UK’s most beautiful beaches:

1. Kynance Cove, Cornwall

2. Brighton Beach, East Sussex

3. Fistral Beach, Cornwall

4. Scarborough Beach, Yorkshire

5. Botany Bay, Kent

6. Seagrove Beach, Isle of Wight

7. Porthcurno Beach, Cornwall

8. Bigbury-on-Sea, Devon

9. Durdle Door Beach, Dorset

10. Loch Morlich, Glenmore

Many of these locations are also Blue Flag beaches, which means they are of a certain level of cleanliness and safety.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from LuxuryHotel said: ‘With the summer of 2022 hoping to be a return to normality as well as good weather, deciding on a beach spot will be one of the hottest topics over the next few months.

‘Those who want to snap some beach photography or capture some memories will be delighted that the UK has a huge selection of great destinations on offer all around the country.’
