Top city break deals in the UK and abroad – as Brits are booking as many as THREE holidays this year

CITY BREAKS in the UK and abroad are seeing a boost in popularity as Brits look to lock in a second or even third holiday for later in the year.

Travel companies are also seeing a desire for holidaymakers to want to visit further afield destinations and spend more money on their holidays.

UK travel agent Hays Travel has reported a “big uplift” in city break holiday bookings, according to Travel Weekly.

They said this was due to customers having already secured a summer holiday and were now looking to book a second or third break in addition.

Speaking at the Travel Weekly Future of Travel Spring Forum last week, the company's bosses – chair Dame Irene Hays, and chief operating officer Jonathon Woodall also reported “a very definite desire for people to travel further and to spend more money”.

Of course, foreign holidays are still banned for Brits, with the
government reviewing the ban on April 12 and borders reopening no
earlier than May 17.

There is no certainty that foreign holidays will go ahead at all this
summer, but several countries are in talks with the UK government about travel corridors.

At the Travel Weekly Forum, Hays Travel's chief operating officer Jonathon Woodall said: "On the back of easyJet Holidays announcing its cities programme for 2022, we’ve got all these customers that have had their holiday cancelled three or four times, so they’ve already got, say, the summer 2021 or even 2022 sorted."

"We’ve customers now saying, ‘we’ve already got that booked and it’s paid for’, and they’re going on and booking their second or sometimes third holiday, which is the cities."

"That’s something that we’ve not seen within our business before, but cities has definitely uplifted towards the back end of last week and looking at the figures today, we’re seeing that continue."

As it stands, holidays in England can go ahead at self-contained holiday lets from April 12, so long as coronavirus rates continue to fall.

From May 17, groups of up to six people from different households or unlimited numbers of people from two households can share a holiday let together.
