FLYING with babies can be a huge challenge, especially when it is a long-haul holiday.
However, travel experts have weighed in on the best flights to book to make the journey a bit easier.
One way to make it easier is to pick a long layover if the flight is connecting – even if this makes the trip longer.
Kristene Geering, director of content at Parent Lab, explained to Huffington Post: "If you know your kiddo is a good napper and will sleep for most of the flight, then maybe the nonstop is good for you.
"[But] if you know they are going to go ballistic if they’re cooped up in their seat for long stretches of time, breaking up the trip might be a better idea.”
“Make sure that the layover is long enough to make it worth it.
“Trust me – having done this with two toddlers by myself once, I learned the hard way that having a shorter layover was not helpful when the original flight was delayed.
“We barely made the flight, me dripping sweat and one kiddo oozing in the other direction. Not the most fun I’ve had as a mother."

Carmen Sognonvi, who has travelled the world with her husband and two daughters, told The Points Guy: "If you get that 8am flight, very often the plane was already there from overnight, so you're on and you're out right on time."
Megan Homme, who works in marketing for an airline, agreed, and said the earlier you fly, the more time you have to deal with any flight problems.
She explained in a TikTok video: "Weather-related delays and cancellations are a lot more common in the winter so here is how you can be prepared.
"If you can, book the very first flight in the day because if you book the last flight you are not going to have any options."
You should never board your flight first either with children – as it means they are stuck on the plane even longer.
