If you were looking forward to jetting off to Sri Lanka any time soon, you might have to change your plans.

TUI has cancelled flights to the popular spot until at least May 31 due to the country's economic crisis, which has resulted in protests.

Protests have been ongoing since March 31, but with no signs of the situation easing up, the Foreign Office implemented a change in advice, urging travellers not to visit, unless essential.

TUI released a statement regarding the change: "Due to the ongoing political and economic instability in Sri Lanka, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have advised against all but essential travel.

"As a result, we’ve unfortunately had to cancel all holidays to Sri Lanka departing up to and including 31 May 2022.
