Announced last week, the green list currently only includes 12 countries with Portugal one of the few destinations welcoming Brits back when restrictions list in the UK from May 17.

TUI has since launched £50 off holidays to parts of Portugal which includes the Algarve, Madeira and Porto Santo.

There is also £100 off holidays to the Spanish Canary Islands as well as Greece and Malta.

You need to spend at least £1,000 per booking, with departure dates from May 17 to August 31.

There are some bargains from £298pp for Portugal, or all-inclusive holidays from £384pp.

However, it is worth noting that Greece and Malta are not on the green list, nor is Spain, so you will need to quarantine at home for ten days when returning to the UK.

Brits will need to prebook two Covid tests to take on day two and day eight of quarantine, which TUI are also offering at a discounted £50 kit.

Portugal also has their own restrictions – Brits must have proof of both vaccinations or have a negative test to be able to visit later this month.

TUI, who has partnered with government-authorised providers Chronomics, will also offer two packages which include outbound PCR tests if required by the destination, costing £60 for green kits and £90 for amber kits.

TUI passengers due to travel before the end of August can change their holiday for free up to 14 days before departure.

Their free Covid Protection scheme covers any additional costs due to Covid that aren't covered by travel insurance.

Eager Brits are already booking holidays abroad to green list destinations, with easyJet and Ryanair releasing hundreds of thousands of flights for the summer due to demand.

It is hoped that the rest of Europe could be placed onto the green list by the summer, although is feared this may not be until July or August.

Boris Johnson will announce further lockdown restrictions to be eased from May 17, affecting holidays in the UK and abroad.

In the UK, while self-catered holidays can go ahead, group trips and hotel stays will resume from next week.
