You can holiday at the UK's best beach from £6pp a night | The Sun

THIS little-known beach has been voted best in the UK – and you'd probably never guess where it is.

The beach was featured in the 'best beaches in the UK' list at the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2023.

The list ranked the best beaches in the UK, and some even beat European beaches.

Taking the number one spot was Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, which also came in 12th place in Europe's best beaches.

The Victorian seaside town is a hidden gem, with the three-mile sandy stretch featuring in the Richard Curtis film, ‘Yesterday’.

Celebs to have visited also include Ed Sheeran and Danny Boyle.

Other high-ranking beaches include Weymouth Beach, Cornwall's Fistral Beach, and Bournemouth Beach.

And a beach in Iceland took the top spot for best European beach.

Reynisfjara Beach is famous for its black sands and for being featured in Game of Thrones.

It's not one for sunbathers, though – it has recorded world-record-high waves of up to 120 feet and freezing waters.

Praia da Falésia on Portugal’s Algarve was named No. 2 in Europe, closely followed by the Sicilian beach, Spiaggia dei Conigli, at No.3.

Sarah Firshein, the Head of Editorial at TripAdvisor, said: "As a huge beach fan myself, I know the impossible-to-resist allure of sunshine and turquoise water—and certainly, there's plenty of that on this year's list.

"But there are some delightful surprises as well.

"In addition to the much-loved beaches of the Caribbean and Hawaii, our community is really looking to kick up their experiences, even exploring cooler destinations like Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland."

Meanwhile, here's the UK seaside town which has been voted the cheapest in the country.

And an abandoned seaside theme park is being turned into a holiday resort.
