Dan Harris leaves Good Morning America Sunday as cast share favorite memories of weekend host

DAN Harris hosted his last weekend of Good Morning America Sunday as the cast shared their favorite memories of the weekend host.

The longtime host, 50, announced in August that he would be leaving ABC News after 21 years with the network.

In a segment that aired Saturday, Harris' colleagues shared some of their favorite memories, noting that it was an "emotional" weekend for the team.

"We're all emotional. We're all a little verklempt," weekend meteorologist Rob Marciano said.

"I've worked with you the longest, so I've aged appropriately because of that."

Marciano spoke about being intimidated by Harris' experience when they first met.

"You put me at ease right away," he quipped. "Mostly because you were shorter than I expected."

Host Eva Pilgrim also had a story about her first day working with Harris.

"I remember I started, the very first time I sat next to you on the desk, I was so nervous," she said.

"You said back to me, I'll never forget, 'Don't worry. You're going to be great. I won't let you fail,'" she went on.

"And then we walk out to the set, the music rolls, and right before we were live, real Dan Harris shows up and goes, 'Don't embarrass me,'" she said.

They also shared some of their favorite Harris moments, including some unforgettable costumes, like when he dressed up as a member of boy band One Direction as well as a particularly magical Harry Potter costume.

Harris also shared a sweet snap with his family to Twitter on Friday as he headed into his final weekend hosting the show.

"Getting emotional support from the crew, heading into my final weekend on ⁦@GMA⁩," he wrote.

Harris announced that he would be leaving the show over the summer as he moves to focus more on his mindfulness and meditation company, Ten Percent Happier.

He founded the company after penning a 2014 book about meditation and reducing stress.

"Even though I'm a public proponent of work-life balance, if I'm honest, I've struggled to follow my own advice," Harris said of his decision to depart.

"In effect, I became an adult here [on ABC News], although some of my co-hosts may dispute that."

Harris joined the ABC network in March 2000 from New England Cable News.

Harris has held various positions on the ABC network, including ABC News correspondent and reporting for World News Tonight and Nightline.
