Girl, 15, stabbed to death as police arrest teen on suspicion of murder

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 15-year-old girl was fatally stabbed and a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured, say police.

Officers from Northumbria Police were called to Priestpopple, Hexham, shortly after 5.10 pm on Friday.

The force received reports that a teenage girl and boy had been injured.

Emergency services were attended and both teenagers were taken to the hospital.

The 15-year-old sadly died from her injuries. The 16-year-old boy sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities confirmed the teens suffered serious injuries "consistent with having been caused by a bladed article".
