Heartbroken mum of Lilia Valutyte fights back tears at daughter's funeral after girl, 9, was tragically stabbed to death | The Sun

THE heartbroken mum of a nine-year-old girl stabbed to death in the street wept as she was laid to rest today.

Lilia Valutyte, nine, was killed as she played with a hula hoop next to her five-year-old sister in Boston, Lincs.

Fruit picker Deividas Skebas, 22, has been charged with her murder.

Hundreds of mourners were invited to line the streets today to say a final goodbye to Lilia.

Her coffin was carried in a horse and carriage as the youngster was taken to her final resting place.

The horses wore bright pink feather headdresses while the carriage was a striking white.

Lilia's mum Lina wept as her daughter's tiny white coffin, which featured colourful butterflies, was carried into the church.

A public service is being held to honour Lilia at St Botolph’s Church in Boston, which photographers were permitted to attend.

Her heartbroken family will then attend a private burial service.

Crowds left beautiful bouquets of flowers on the steps of the church to pay tribute to Lilia.

The schoolgirl was stabbed in the chest on July 28 as her mum worked in a cafe nearby.

Haunting CCTV showed the schoolgirl holding a hula hoop as she played with her sister just moments before the brutal attack.

Police could then be seen rushing over to Lilia in a desperate bid to save her.

Lilia's mum Lina last month paid tribute to her daughter alongside a string of touching photos.

She said: "You find yourself looking for her everywhere. We had four corners and now one is gone.”

Lilia's stepdad Aurelijus added: “She was cheeky; quiet in one way and then other ways she wasn't. She always tried to make fun.”

The family is now planning to install a statue in memory of her daughter in Boston town centre close to where she was killed.

Lina also spoke of her agony at Lilia's life being cruelly cut short before she could experience any of her hopes or dreams.

She said: "It’s hard to know what to say. She was just a normal child, one day she’s happy and another she isn’t, one day she wants to eat pancakes and another she doesn’t – the usual things.
