A mum-of-four has admitted to committing sex acts in Liverpool city centre after videos of the incident went viral.

35-year-old Kelly Cousins, who goes by pseudonym Ruby Rose on social media, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (September 20) charged with outraging public decency.

The videos posted on her own social media last month appeared to show Cousins having sex with a man in the city's Concert Square, in full view of the public.

Police say the man is Joe Firby from Gateshead who was not in court today but will appear at a later date, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The clips quickly went viral, prompting condemnation from the Mayor of Liverpool and a criminal investigation from police.

Cousins, who is originally from Bradford but was living in Bootle when the videos were filmed, admitted outraging public decency in court today and is set to be sentenced next month.

Andrew Page, prosecuting, told the court videos of Cousins and a man having sex close to Einstein Bier Haus in Concert Square began circulating overnight on August 2 this year.

He said Cousins posted one of the videos to her own social media accounts with the comment: “Where next? Crosby Beach, Mathew Street, Saint John’s Garden’s or the docks?”

The videos were shared widely on social media and drew condemnation, including from city mayor Joanne Anderson who called them “damaging and criminal” in a statement in which she requested people stop sharing them.

Cousins was arrested days later and interviewed by police. Mr Page said: “She made no comment although she did appear to smile when the footage was played to her.”

Her solicitor requested a pre sentence report be compiled before she is sentenced. The court heard Cousins was on a community order when the videos were filmed.

District Judge Paul Healey agreed to that request, telling Cousins: “I do view this as a serious offence, aggravated by the fact you were subject to an order. I believe alcohol was an issue in previous offending and it was also an issue here. The location of this is also clearly concerning to me.”

Cousins was bailed until her sentencing hearing next month.
