Police officers are reportedly investigating serious crimes including rape and murder from the comfort of their own homes.
Pandemic-inspired hybrid working policies remain in place across the country, including at Hampshire Police, which has the seventh-highest number of crimes of the 43 forces in England and Wales.

Simon Kempton, Police Federation national treasurer, said that while many duties still need to be carried out in person, there are ‘some, like detectives, that are still working at home’.
He added: ‘Broadly speaking, it could be pretty much any sort of an inquiry that could be done with a laptop or a phone.
‘Whether it’s shoplifting or a murder or anything in between, anything that can be done from wherever.’ But a Government source told The Daily Telegraph: ‘It sounds like they are taking the public for fools.’
