Woman, 20, vanishes off London street as man, 63, arrested for murder and false imprisonment

POLICE looking for a young woman who went missing ten days ago have arrested a man on suspicion of murder and false imprisonment.

Cops continue to search for Agnes Akom, 20, who disappeared after leaving her north west London home last Sunday morning.


A 63-year-old man was arrested in North Acton late last night and remains in custody.

Detectives are searching parks near her home and are appealing for anyone with any information about her whereabouts to come forward.

Agnes, also known as Dora, is a Hungarian national who has been living in the UK for five years.

She is thought to have left her home address in Cricklewood Broadway on the morning of Sunday May 9. She was reported missing on May 11. 

Agnes is approximately 5ft 5ins tall, has blonde hair, and was wearing a white faux-fur coat, ripped light blue jeans, and light pink trainers on the day she disappeared.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, said: “Our officers are working tirelessly to locate Agnes, who has now not been seen or heard from in 10 days.

"There are serious concerns for Agnes’ safety and it is our priority to find her as soon as possible.

“We are conducting extensive searches in the Park Royal and Holland Park areas today following last night’s arrest, and are continuing to utilise all investigative opportunities to build a clear picture of her movements.

"We are following every lead possible and are appealing for the public to help us in our work. If you may have seen Agnes, or have any information on her whereabouts over the past 10 days, please contact police.”
