Rachel Stevens slams unfair claims she has advantage on Dancing on Ice

S Club 7 favourite Rachel Stevens has hit back at what she claims are “unfair” suggestions that she has an advantage on Dancing on Ice, due to her previous dance experience.

The brunette star, 43, has joined the line-up for the upcoming 2022 series ofDancing On Ice and will compete alongside celebs for the skating title.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star has hit back at claims she has an advantage over other contestants in the ice dancing show due to her dance background from her days in the pop band.

She said: "It’s unfair. They said the same thing when I did Strictly."

The singer and actress told The Sun: “I'm not a trained dancer so going into that was totally out of my comfort zone and a different way of performing.

"Now add the ice element to it and it's a whole new ball game."

The stunning star appeared on Tuesday morning's edition of This Morning to break the news she will be part of the line-up for the upcoming series of DOI.

She spoke to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about what a challenge taking part in the show would be for her.

Asked if she'd ever had any experience on the ice rink, the singer admitted she'd only used the "penguin" – a support for non-skaters – when she's gone with her children.

"I did it when I was 10," Rachel then recalled. "I dabbled in it a little bit and I really loved it, but I’m very wobbly."

The star went on to say the reason she's chosen to take part in Dancing On Ice now is due to timing and an opportunity coming up.

But she also considered how "amazing" it would be to learn a new skill.

"I love the whole idea of working with a team and partner," Rachel continued. "And also for my girls to be a part of this.

"They’re at an age now where they’re gonna love it, all the costumes and have a ball," the TV personality added.


Rachel will be joined on the ice by fellow celebrities including Love Island favourite Liberty Poole, Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor, Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt to name a few.

Football legendPaul Gascoigne's son Regan has also reportedly joined the line-up for the upcoming 2022 series.

Regan's sister Bianca, 34, is on Dancing On Ice in Italy and has previously taken part in the UK's Celebrity Big Brother back in 2017.

His 54 year old dad has also previously taken part in the Italian version of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
