Manager of ‘worst restaurant in Leeds’ says there’s nothing wrong with the food

A manager of a Chinese takeaway that has been ranked the worst restaurant in the whole of Leeds has hit back at unhappy customers by insisting his food is “excellent.”

The restaurant in question, Chopsticks, often receives a barrage of complaints and has been listed 1,200 out of 1,200 on review website TripAdvisor.

Blistering reviews vary from comments on “rude” staff to “soggy” spring rolls.

A damning review from September 2021 scathed: “TERRIBLE! They keep you waiting for hours and then they don't tell you they're not going to deliver your food and then they do not pick up the phone either!”

Another disappointed customer wrote about their visit in May 2021:“ I ordered from here at the end of March. I was surprised at how cheap it was, but the food was very poor.”

“Foolishly gave them another chance in May, and the food was even worse. Definitely wouldn't order from here again.”

To get some insight from the manager of the poorly reviewed store, LeedsLive contacted Chopsticks for comment.

The restaurant manager Maz appeared to be unaware of the scathing reviews and was left baffled as to why people were leaving such “horrible comments".

Maz had a completely different view on the food and service delivered by Chopsticks – as he remarked that both were “excellent.”

The manager insisted: “Don’t be afraid of the comment, our food is nice. There’s nothing wrong with the food, don’t be afraid because of comments.”

“We’ve never had complaints about it like that so why are people putting horrible comments? I don’t want people to be put off.”

He added that: “We have excellent food and excellent service.”
