Academy Awards betting odds: Bet on the Academy Awards 2023 winner | The Sun

THE 95th ACADEMY AWARDS will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 12th, local time.

All eyes will be on the conclusion of what has been a very interesting Best Picture race, with blockbuster hits Avatar: The Way of Water and Top Gun Maverick battling it out with arthouse darlings like Everything Everywhere All at Once and TAR. Of course, the Best Picture prize is not the only Oscar up for grabs this weekend, and in this guide, we will take a look at all of the major categories and who the bookies think will be taking home the golden statues.

Best Picture favourites

If the bookies are to be believed, then the Best Picture race is all but settled. Everything Elsewhere All at Once is currently available at 1/14 with bet365, suggesting that the result is a foregone conclusion. Don’t rule out an upset on the night, though, with the Oscars having a habit of throwing up a surprise winner when the ceremony rolls around. Last year’s winner CODA built up extremely late momentum to pip favourite The Power of the Dog to the Oscar.

In recent years, the Baftas have lost their status as an Oscar indicator. The British ceremony’s best film has only matched the Academy’s choice for two of the last 10 years. This doesn’t bode well for All Quiet on the Western Front, which is second in the odds table at 11/1.

Despite performing well at the Golden Globes, Michael McDonagh’s The Banshess of Inisherin has lost a lot of momentum at just the wrong time. Its surprising defeat at the Baftas has seen it drift out to 14/1, having been at similar odds to Everything Everywhere All At Once for a long time. It could still stage a late comeback, but it feels less likely as the ceremony gets closer.

We can’t look past Everything Everywhere All at Once, though. The movie was released nearly 12 months ago but has managed to stay in the conversation for Best Picture for most of that time, slowly building its way into the favourite position. It has been a hit with both audiences and critics and is as far from conventional as a Best Picture winner can get, something that will help the Academy as it continues to rebrand itself as a progressive organisation.

As for the rest of the pack, it seems unlikely that any of them are going to gatecrash the show. James Cameron will be disappointed that Avatar: The Way of Water hasn’t been more prominent in the Best Picture race, but we’re sure a $2bn+ box office will soften that blow. TAR and Elvis are both key contenders in other categories but are just making up numbers in the main one, while a nomination for Top Gun Maverick has been seen as the token crowd-pleaser nod.

Best Director and other Academy Award markets

It is not uncommon for the Academy to split the Best Director and Best Picture awards. In fact, in only 4 out of the last 10 years, the winner of Best Director scored the Best Picture award. The bookies seem to think they will go down that route this year, though, with The Daniels comfortably favoured at 1/12.

A legacy Oscar for Steven Spielberg for his work on The Fablemans is the second favourite with the bookies for Best Director at odds of 6/1. The Fablemans, a fictional retelling of Spielberg’s childhood, received critical acclaim but failed to make an impact at the Box Office. It started this Oscar season as a strong favourite across all categories but quickly faded into the background.

The Best Actor and Actress races promise to be two of the most exciting on the night. The Best Actor race has come down to three men – Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, and Austin Butler. Fraser and Butler have exchanged the favourite status over the last few weeks. Fraser is currently favoured at 8/13, with Butler in second at 6/5. Farrell has lost momentum following his Golden Globe win and is now available at 12/1 with bet365.

Sign up at bet365 and bet on the Best Actor or Best Actress.

The Best Actress race is down to two, and this one looks set to be just as exciting on the night. Michelle Yeoh is currently the favourite at 8/13 for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, but Cate Blanchett is hot on her heels for her lead role in TAR. She is available at evens with bet365. These odds have shifted more than any other and will be worth monitoring as the ceremony gets closer.

Ke Hoy Quan is the clear favourite for Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere All at Once at 1/50. Fresh off his BAFTA success, Barry Keoghan is the most favoured for an upset, and he can be found all the way out at 18/1. Angela Bassett has long been the front-runner for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she can be found at 11/8 with William Hill. Jamie Lee Curtis has closed in on Bassett and could score another big win for Everything Everywhere All at Once. She can be found at 6/4 with multiple bookmakers.

Sign up at BetVictor and bet on Ke Hoy Quan for the Best Supporting Actor reward.
