All the Baby Names Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Have Hinted at for Their New Daughter

Royal fans have been waiting on pins and needles for the newest Sussex to come into the world. Since Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex announced that they were having a new little girl, fans have been wanting more information about the baby. The Sussexes are being pretty tight-lipped about the details surrounding the birth of their second child, but they have hinted at a few baby names that they may give the little royal.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby announcement

After suffering a miscarriage last July, Harry and Meghan announced on Valentine’s Day that they were expecting a new bundle of joy. The announcment came in the form of a stunning black and white photo in which Meghan showed off her baby bump.

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” a spokesperson for the royal couple said in a statement at the time. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s favorite baby names

Back in 2019, when Meghan and Harry were visiting Birkenhead, school children suggested names to the couple for their first child. A child named Megan Dudley offered up the name Amy.

“I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl, and she said, ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it,’” Dudley said, according to People.

While on tour, they also met a woman with a baby named Harriet.

“As soon as I introduced my daughter to Harry he said ‘that’s a great name,’” the woman later told Sunday Express. “Maybe they will choose it for their own child which would be fun.”

During the Global Citizen’s Vax Live concert, some fans thought that Meghan hinted at the new baby’s name.

“My husband and I are thrilled to soon be welcoming a daughter,” Meghan said. “It’s a feeling of joy we share with millions of other families around the world. When we think of her, we think of all the other families around the globe who must be given the ability and support to lead us forward.”

During her speech, Meghan wore a red poppy Carolina Herrera dress, which some fans thought was a clue that she would name her new daughter Poppy.

This baby will be different

This birth will already be much different than Archie’s. Since Archie was born, Meghan and Harry stepped away from their positions as working members of the royal family. Even the way they announced the births was different, with their second announcement being much more modern and subdued. Whereas Meghan and Harry had to follow certain royal protocols during their first pregnancy, they are free to do whatever they want now.

This pregnancy is also different as it is taking place in the middle of a pandemic. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has limited what Meghan and Harry can do this time around.

“Meghan doesn’t feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now. There is too much strife in the world,” a source told US Weekly. “She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose.”
