All you need to know about Ed Sheeran’s children and family life with wife Cherry Seaborn

After over a decade of delighting audiences with his music, it’s safe to say at this point Ed Sheeran is a bit of a British icon.

From gifting us with catchy tunes such as Thinking Out Loud and Bad Habits, right through to providing the soundtrack to Marks and Spencer adverts, Ed’s music has become a familiar and comforting ear-worm to many of us.

But despite knowing plenty about his impressive music catalogue and string of award-winning tunes, one thing that still remains an elusive mystery is Ed’s private life away from the glitz and glamour of his showbiz life.

Renowned for being notoriously private, we take a closer look at the information Ed has been willing to share over the years as we explore his life off screen.

Marrying his childhood sweetheart

Ed first met his wife Cherry Seaborn when they attended Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk in the mid noughties, but the pair didn’t officially reconnect until 2015 when they were in Rhode Island, US, together.

After embarking on a private but deep rooted romance, the couple tied the knot in 2019 with only their closest friends and family invited to the intimate ceremony.

The couple currently live together in Suffolk, on a vast estate aptly dubbed “Sheeran-ville” that is rumoured to be worth a whopping £3.5million in total.

The Brit award winner bought several houses on the site, which also invites a lake, a treehouse, underground music room, chapel and even it’s very own pub!

Purchased over a period of eight years, the entire estate features comprised a modern detached farmhouse complete with recording studio, a 16th-century Grade II-listed farmhouse, a four-bedroom home, and another bungalow.

In addition, Cherry and Ed also own a swanky £19.8million home in Notting Hill, that fans were briefly given a glimpse of during the music video of Put It All On Me.

Introducing Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran

One year after getting married, Ed and Cherry welcomed their first daughter into the world, little Lyra Antarctica, who was born at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020.

At the time, Ed posted on Instagram: "Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

"We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I'll see you when it's time to come back, Ed x.”

Prior to Lyra’s birth, the couple had raised concerns about their ability to have children after experiencing numerous fertility struggles, with the adorable baby even being dubbed a “miracle” as she had arrived just before the couple embarked on IVF treatment.

In a cute nod to where she was conceived, Lyra’s middle name is Antarctica, as the couple were on a trip to the frozen peninsula when Cherry fell pregnant.

Ed previously spoke about his decision on The Hits Radio Breakfast Show, when he said: "Yeah it was just something we wanted to have in her name. I know people see it as a weird thing, but like… I mean it’s less about where she was made and more about it being special.”

“I just wanted to have a connection to it … I understand it’s like awkward for kids to grow up and then she’ll watch this interview and be like 'eww.'"

Welcoming daughter Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran

Just under two years after welcoming Lyra, the happy couple were blessed again, this time with another daughter, baby Jupiter.

Born in May 2022, Ed officially announced her arrival with a heartfelt Instagram post that showed nothing but a pair of tiny white socks.

Alongside the post he wrote: "Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x.”

The birth announcement came as a shock to many, as the proud parents had managed to keep Cherry’s pregnancy hidden from the public eye, with the news only officially revealed when they were ready to share their joy.

According to The Sun, Jupiter, much like her sister was named with her conception in mind, with the planet Jupiter clearly visible in the night sky at the time she was conceived.

Cherry’s health battle

While announcing his upcoming album Subtract which is due to hit shelves in May 2023, Ed took to Instagram to share an intimate look at the creative process behind his new record.

Revealing he had been working on the record for over a decade, a series of tragic life events occurred prompting him to scrap the work entirely and rewrite it in the space of just one week.

"Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth," Ed wrote.

He also made reference to Brenda Edwards ’ late son Jamal, when he added: "My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly. I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.”

"For the first time, I'm not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life."

Although no further details were given about Cherry’s health, fans were quick to send their warmest wishes to Ed and his wife as they wished her a speedy recovery.
